DJ Target
DJ Target is one of the most influential figures in UK music and culture. The East London DJ first rose to prominence as the DJ for pioneering garage collective Pay As U Go Cartel, before becoming a longstanding member of one of the foundational grime crews, Roll Deep, working alongside artists including Wiley and Dizzee Rascal during the genre’s formative years.
After honing his craft on pirate radio stations such as Rinse FM, he went on to become a leading voice on BBC Radio 1Xtra, where he has championed and platformed countless emerging artists across multiple genres to both national and global audiences. His five-day-a-week show has achieved legendary status and continues to be a source of new and exciting music. His DJ sets across the UK and around the world have further cemented his place in UK culture.
Target has also expanded into other media, including television. He has hosted six series of The Rap Game UK, which has broken numerous records and is the longest-running Black music non-scripted show on UK TV. As well as hosting his own live music show, Tonight with Target (BBC Three), he is also the author of the bestselling memoir Grime Kids, which inspired the television adaptation of the same name.
A DJ, broadcaster and author, DJ Target remains a key figure in shaping, documenting and championing the story of UK urban and dance music.
